Cooling a magnetic nanoisland by spin-polarized currents

I think this is a very interesting and creative approach to facing the problem of heating in electronics. In this work, spin-polarized currents are used to polarize magnetic nanoislands and reduce its magnetic energy. Then, due to coupling between the magnetic moments and vibrational states of the system, this reduction of magnetic energy results in lowering of vibrational energy. As long as this process if faster than the Ohmic heating, a net cooling effect occurs. Even a "nanorefrigerator" could be made. It would be interesting to see this idea applied to technology in the future.
