Nomination text:
This review highlights recent advances in the field of functionalization of gold nanoparticles and their potential applications in medicine and biology. Gold nanoparticles have the general advantages of metal nanoparticles like small size to volume ratio and extensive thermal stability. Also, it has amenability of synthesis and functionalization, less toxicity and ease of detection, which makes them even more favorable. The applications include bioimaging, gene delivery, drug delivery and other therapeutic and diagnostic applications, etc.
